This upcoming weekend Madrid will become the epicenter of the Spanish art market. From the 19th to the 22nd the city of Madrid will open the art season at the fourth edition of Apertura 2013, with several exhibitions and with the new contemporary art fair, SUMMA. Approximately 50 galleries in the city will open new shows, and different art institutions will offer a variety of art programmes. This event, which will be taking part all around the city as a celebration of art and culture, is organised by the Galeries’ Association, ARTE_MADRID, in order to enhance the arts in the country. Such event follows the Art Weekend initiative previously launched in Berlin and New York. Apertura 2013 offers a broad palette of national and international artists, who will attract collectors, experts and curators from all over the world, transforming Madrid in the meeting point for professionals in the contemporary art market, and at the same time, reviving the art panorama of the Spanish capital. Galleries and museums will offer high level programmes of national and international significance, opening doors to visitors during day and night. Moreover, the new art fair SUMMA will open its doors to public for the first time this upcoming Thursday. SUMMA defines itself as a new contemporary art fair for young collectors and, simultaneously, intends to refresh the contemporary art scene in the country, and enable the city to become a dynamic center for the arts in Spain. At the same time, the essence of this art fair is to become a platform for young artists, providing exposure to new talents and becoming a relevant reference for new collectors. In Beyond Arting we are very excited about what it is yet to come, and we truly recommend you to take part in this fantastic event if by any chance you are around the city.
