Estampa, the Spanish multiple art fair, opens its doors to public this weekend in Madrid. From today to the 13th of October the art center Matadero will host the 21st edition of such event. This art fair, which is mainly focused on photography, video, design, works on paper and contemporary drawing, has become a very especialised event that hosts a refined gallery selection and attracts an interesting variety of collectors. Moreover, Estampa counts with the magnificent presence of Jaume Plensa as the guest artist on this edition. Launched in 1993, Estampa has been from its very beginning an important reference for galleries, editors, and institutions that work collecting and promoting contemporary art. Today, 21 years later, this multiple art fair is considered to be one of the most important events in the Spanish contemporary art market, that encourages new collectors into the world of contemporary art. Therefore, private and public institutions work in collaboration in order to bring together the best quality of art and galleries to the fair. As previously mentioned, the outstanding Spanish artist Jaume Plensa, National Art Award 2012 and National Graphic Art Award 2013, is the invited artist at Estampa 2013. This Catalan artist is a great lover of multiples and edition art production and has created the image for Estampa 2013. Moreover, the artist presents the exhibition, Lugar Imaginal, which brings together a variety of large scale female bronze sculptures. This exhibition has plenty of suggestions and dreams that are very present in an ‘Imaginary World’ (Mundo Imaginal). Additionally, the pieces that build this exhibition, evoke the magical and mystical essence that transcends the fragility and sensitivity of individuals, which is at heart its own beauty, and as the artist mentioned, my duty is to create beauty. However, Estampa includes a great variety of projects in the different areas of the edition development, video, photography, books, engraving and designs. In addition, this multiple art fair combines as well activities, such as workshops, concerts, lectures and discussion panels, in order to stimulate the market and encourage new collectors to admire such fantastic contemporary art productions.
From Beyond Arting we truly recommend you to attend to such a highlighted event, so if you are around Madrid, do not miss it out.
Have a wonderful weekend!
